|| Instructions for changing a domain's owner
Transferring ownership for a domain registered with EnCirca is a free service and is performed completely online. Owner transfers are accomplished by moving a domain from one user account to another user account.

The high-level steps involved in an owner transfer are:

  • Create the "gaining" user account, if it does not already exist
  • Determine the "gaining" account's customer id
  • Initiate the Account Move from the "losing" account
  • Confirm the pending move from the "gaining" account
  • Update the domain with new contacts and nameservers
To create the "gaining" user account, if it does not already exist:
  • Select the "My Account" link at the top of encirca.com
  • Select the "Account Management" link from the left side menu
  • Select the "Create New Account" link
  • Select "save" after competing the new account form
To determine the "gaining" account's customer id:
  • Login to the "gaining" account by selecting the "My Account" link
  • Select the "Customers" link from the left-side menu
  • Select the "List Customers" link from the left-side menu
  • Write down the customer id in the first column beginning with "cust"
To initiate the Account Move from the "losing" account:
  • Login to the "losing" account
  • Select the "Account Moves" link from the left-side menu
  • Select the "Account Moves" sub-link from the Account Moves menu
  • Complete the form and select "Continue"
At this point, both the gaining and losing account owners will receive an email indicating the Account Move has been initiated.

To confirm the pending move from the "gaining" account

  • Login to the "gaining" account
  • Select the "Account Moves" link from the left-side menu
  • Select the "Pending Moves" link from the Account Moves menu
  • Select the pending move and acknowledge it
At this point, both the gaining and losing account owners will receive an email indicating the Account Move has been completed.

Note the domain will still be listed with the losing account's Whois contacts and nameservers. The new account owner will not be able to modify these contacts since they are owned by the losing account. The new account owner must use his own Whois contacts and modify the domain via the "modify domain" screen.

Hit the "back" button in your web browser to return to the previous screen
